Have you ever noticed how inconsistent some people are in their supposed “beliefs”? Think about this: Those who are supposed to be the champions, the protectors of the sacredness of life; those who cry out with every death of a soldier in Iraq; those who demand that the death penalty be abolished without any argument, just happen to be the same people who advocate the murder of 1,000,000 unborn children a year? If life is so precious, why the double standard?
Yes, there are those who believe in the first two above and not the third. But what about the others who believe all three? Is anyone going to challenge them on this blaring inconsistency? Or is this endeavor useless in a postmodern age where truth is no longer existent?
Your opinions, please.
I am often struck by the irony of how intolerant and unpeaceful the people are who are screaming at Christians to be tolerant and peaceful. It will never be consistent, and it will never get better. We are marching forward in the End Times and the persecution will only increase. It will always be Christianity that is fought at every turn because it is the Truth, and the Enemy wants to see our efforts fail. I used to get depressed thinking about how “successful” and “forward” people from other religions seem to be about spreading their beliefs. But eventually I realized and accepted two things:
1) Satan’s goons are not fighting those who are promoting Islam, Jehovah’s Witness, Humanism or other lies. He’s propelling them!
BUT…
2) More importantly God is in control and He is all powerful. Everything will unfold as He wills it, regardless of Satan’s schemes.
SO, I can rest in knowing that weapons formed against me will not prosper, and persecution only brings me closer to Jesus. Lord, help us see these inconsistent and LOST people through Your eyes.
Sean:
The bigger inconsistency, in my mind, belongs to the large mass of evangelicals who say they are pro-life, but who do nothing (outside of perhaps vote) about it. And the leader of this mass of humanity are pro-life pastors (who, again, do virtually nothing).
It is disgraceful.
