Brit Hume - Blair to Blame?

Ok, get your duct tape back out....

From
Brit Hume, FoxNews.com:

Blair To Blame?
George Galloway, the British Member of Parliament who's been accused of taking money from Saddam Hussein's regime, says British Prime Minister Tony Blair is to blame for Thursday's attacks in London, insisting Londoners have now "paid the price" for his decisions to invade Iraq and Afghanistan. Galloway says, "The loss of innocent lives ... is precisely the result of a world that has become a less safe and peaceful place in recent years. ... We argued ... that the attacks on Afghanistan and Iraq would increase the threat of terrorist attack in Britain. Tragically ... the government ignor[ed] such warnings."
Can you believe this? I made a comment yesterday to one of my friends that it would only be a matter of time before someone blamed Bush (or Blair) for the terrorist attacks in London. Do these people think we're stupid? ARGH!!!

A follow up to the original post:
This article on FoxNews.com describes how Britain's P.M. Tony Blaire is going to stay the course and keep his commitments in the war on terror. God bless leaders like Tony Blaire who can see past the immediate veil of fear and do what needs to be done. The last thing in the world that Britain needs to do is bow to the demands of murderers and pull a "Spain."

I would love to see Tony Blair spit in the face of Al-Qaeda by doubling the number of troops that Great Britain has in Iraq and Afganastan.

Seriously? Do you not believe Great Britian's support of the US angers Al-Qaeda? I'm not blaming Blair necessarily... but you don't think their support of the war makes them a greater target? If I were a terrorist, they would be on my enemy list. This, of course, is assuming Al-Qaeda is responsible--I haven't heard, maybe they are?

Don't take my comment as a message that I support or agree with George Galloway... I abbor the political vomit parties spew back and forth at each other. I just think there could be a link between the attack and British support in Iraq or perhaps it has something to do with the G8 summit--have the terrorists declared their motive yet?

Thinking in Ohio,
I know you're not defending Al-Qaeda or the comments from Galloway. I completely understand your point. Maybe the terrorists have made London more of a target, but it has always been a target. These people are evil murderers who hate us to no end. That is why in another topic on this blog I made the point that we were attacked on 9/11. These people wanted us dead long before we went into Iraq. But I agree with you. I just wanted to make sure we're all on the same page. "Political vomit" is all Galloway's comment is, just like all the rhetoric coming from the Liberals in Washington blaming everything bad under the sun on W.

You're right, Sean, and I have nothing but disdain for Galloway's comments... my point is this--he's right to this degree, and this degree only, Britian is a greater target of Al Qaeda today--and why? Because they did the right thing and fought terrorism in Afganistan.

To think that we do not suffer for doing the right thing, for standing on the side of truth and righteousness is an assumption that only time will change (I'm not saying that about you or Ron). Galloway is appealing to a cowardice in human nature that says, "Look out for yourself, preserve yourself at all cost. Just play it safe."

I suppose if a London citizen witnesses a mugging or a worse crime the best thing to do would be to quietly stroll on by and keep safe--otherwise they might "pay the price" of intervention. There was a time in England's history when her leaders called on her citizens to bravely lay down their lives for the sake of her people. But not today... at least not with Galloway.

Is there a connection between this attack and the war against terror? You'd better believe it, but that doesn't make fighting terrorism wrong or foolish or irresponsible on Blair's part. Someone should stand up and call Galloway the coward that he is.

Having re-read your post I understand what you were saying, too. You were frustrated by Galloway's inferences against Blair, as am I.

Does anyone know if Galloway might be French?
